September & October Highlights- Classroom Lessons

Counselors have been busy getting to know all of our wonderful students here at GVMS! Along with meeting many students for individual counseling, we have been visiting grade level classrooms.

Here is what our classroom lesson topics involve:

6th Grade: Mrs. Tracy & Mrs. Mosley have been visiting 6th grade Social Studies classes to talk about the role of school counselors, how we can help, and what to do in certain emergency situations. We also completed an online survey to assess what areas the students could most use counseling help in.

7th Grade:
7th Grade: All 7th grade students complete their Academic and Career Plan (ACPs) in social studies classes in October. The ACPs included exploring future course options, post secondary education choices, and career clusters. Parents are encouraged to view the ACP on the following website link (please note this is not registration for classes):

8th Grade: At the end of the month, Ms. Kaczkowski will be presenting information about high school. This will include information about graduation requirements and specialty program opportunities.
